I am so glad I can bring this artistic rug to the selection! When you buy a rug here in Morocco, vendors will always tell you that the rug is like a painting. And most of the times it is true! Look at that creative one! It is a real vintage Azilal rug with a great composition made of a large diamond in the center surrounded with smaller ones -diamonds is the main feminine symbol when it comes to Moroccan rugs- with also checks and those two symetrical blue designs that caught my eye! The whole rug is so vibrant and definitely is a unique piece of berber art!
The colors are an orangey red, pale yellow, mint green and royal blue, black, light beige, brown. The rug is made of cotton threads on a cotton base, with a little bit of wool (the undyed white and brown parts) and is a low pile.
Approximate dimensions are 4.3x6.9feet / 132x210cm (+unregular tassels). Due to the handmade weaving work the rug is not perfectly rectangle: width is 3.8feet / 116cm near the tassels and 4.3feet / 132cm at its largest, close to the straightened ending.
The rug has not been cut and comes in its original shape.
Please note that this rug is vintage, meaning that it was made first for a private use, not directly for the market. It will come with light signs of age, like some worn spots in pile. Borders have been nicely fixed and one ending has been straightened in a nice way. The rug shows no stain or obvious repair and is in great vintage condition!
