This lovely rug was sourced in the area of Aït Bouguemez, Azilal, Morocco. It was an immediate "yes" for me as I love when a moroccan rug features animal figures! The composition of this one is mostly made of series of geometrical designs like triangles, crosses and what looks like simplified flowers. And then you have 3 figures: one chicken, one cow and one human that make this rug a real testimony of the traditional berber life. Such a special piece!
The colors are an undyed beige as background, with dark brown designs all over it.
The rug is made of a very soft sheep wool on a cotton base. Low to medium pile.
Approximate dimensions are 3.2x6.2feet (+2inches tassels on each endings) / 98x190cm (+5cm tassels on each endings).
The rug has not been cut and comes in its original shape. Due to the handmade weaving work, the rug is not perfectly rectangle as you can probably see on the pictures attached.
Please note that this rug is vintage, meaning that it has been made first for a private use, not directly for the market. It will come with signs of a previous life. It has been professionally cleaned but there may be some remaining, not this visible stain. No obvious fixes to notice and the rug is in great condition overall!
